Introduction to Snow Shoeing

Walking in the Snow The French call this la raquette which makes when you think of the traditional image of people with tennis rackets strapped to their feet.

Snow shoes offer the winter walker the ability to venture out onto the snow where otherwise you would be sinking up to your knees (and deeper) and explore the delights of the mountains under a mantle of snow.

This week introduce you to snow shoes and take you on basic treks out into the mountain environment where you will be venturing out to lakes, walking through the forests  and over mountain  passes. You may have the opportunity to spot animals in the mountains, but if not we will certainly see animal tracks from rabbits, deer and foxes.

You will be based in the historic town of Ax-les-Thermes and bathe our feet in the hot spring bath in the centre of the town. You will be based in the historic town of Ax-les-Themes staying in half board hotel accommodation.
