Tryfan is one of the most recognisable peaks in Snowdonia with it’s classic pointed shape and rugged crags. This walk is an exhilarating day out taking in one of Snowdonia’s highest mountains, over rocky terrain and requiring some basic scrambling to reach the summit.
We normally ascend the mountain from Ogwen Cottage via the north ridge which rises from the valley to the summit where we find the famous ‘Adam and Eve’ a pair of rocks some 3 metres high and 1.2 metres apart. From the valley, these are visable from the north east where they resemble two human figures, and the custom is to jump between the two rocks to gain “the freedom of Tryfan” - we will leave this up to you to decide!!
We will descend the mountain down the south ridge, a slightly easier route, and and then descend by either Bochlwyd or Cwm Tryfan and return back to the Ogwen valley.
Tryfan is a challenging mountain to climb on rocky terrain and is suitable for people with previous hill-walking experience and a head for heights. The walk will take approximately 7-8 hours to complete.
We provide day walking tours to the top of Tryvan throughout the year according to demand, with the following days earmarked for the activity.
