Carrauntoohil: Ireland's Highest Peak
Â
Carrauntoohil, standing at 1039m is the highest mountain on the Emerald Isle. This breathtaking peak, is located in the South west on the Iveragh peninsula that stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean. Carrauntoohil is one of many peaks that make up the horseshoe shaps of the macgillycuddy Reeks situated in County Kerry, an area famous for its beautiful scenery and typically Irish warm hospitality.
Â
The challenging and satisfying mountain offers spectacular views from the start, and is a suitable trek for a keen walker. It is a fairly strenuous trek with a hint of exposure at times, which makes it a very memorable experience, and great to recall later.
