For those keen on spectacular walks but with lack of experience in the hills, we offer tailor made courses to enable you to get around safely and easily in the mountains on your own.

Winter Skills Scotland

Winter Mountain Skills Courses, Scotland

Based in Cairngorm Lodge Youth Hostel, we run both 2 day and 4 day winter mountain skills courses. The aim of these courses is to teach you all the necessary mountain skills required to walk, scramble and climb safely in winter conditions.

  • 2 Day Course: 200 pp (Includes YHA accommodation and Instruction)
  • 4 day course: 350 pp (Includes YHA accommodation and overnight stay in a snowhole, & instruction)

  • Use of Crampons & Ice-Axe
  • Navigation and Route finding
  • Assessing snow conditions and avalanche risk
  • Survival skills & emergency procedures
  • Rope work & Belaying
  • Winter Weather
  • Equipment Selection
